That is true, you have your period every month to expel the inner lining of your uterus and its contents, which would include any un-fertilized eggs that you had ovulated that month. For that reason, more than likely there would not be an egg present to fertilize. However, nothing is guaranteed and strange things happen all the time. Unless you are wanting to become pregnant, I'd suggest that you continue using some kind of protection.

A lot of people think that if a woman has sex during her period, she can't get pregnant. But it is possible for a woman to get pregnant while she is bleeding. There are a couple reasons why this can happen:
Not all vaginal bleeding is the result of a menstrual period. Sometimes a woman will have a small amount of vaginal bleeding at the time of ovulation - the time when she is most fertile. During ovulation, an egg is released from one of the ovaries and travels down a fallopian tube to the uterus. It's common for women who are ovulating to have some vaginal bleeding that can be mistaken for a period.
Sometimes ovulation can occur before the bleeding from a woman's period has stopped, or it may occur within a few days after her period is over. Sperm can fertilize an egg for up to 3 days after ejaculation. So in both cases, having sex before the period is finished can result in pregnancy.
Having unprotected sex at any time, including when you're bleeding, is very risky. Along with the risk of becoming pregnant, there is also a risk of getting a sexually transmitted disease (STD), such as chlamydia, genital warts, or HIV. The only surefire way to prevent pregnancy and STDs is abstinence. If you do have sex, use a condom every time to protect against STDs. And talk to your doctor about additional forms of contraceptives.

I have no idea who that Sue Johannson is but she is very wrong.
Do you want to bet your future on her "little chance" of getting pregnant? Stay with a condom or other proven technique.

Sue didn't say that there was no chance. Of course, being that this is Sue, this doesn't mean that you shouldn't use protection or that you should be shocked if you do happen to get pregnant.

yes you can get pregnant but the chances isnt as high.
Its still a big risk to take tho. Anyways, always use a condom when you have sex because beside reducing the chances of pregnancy, condoms is the only protection from STDs.

You can definitely get pregnant during your period. Be careful! You don't ovulate at the same time or at the same speed each month. The ovum could still be hanging out and waiting.

Hi, you can get pregnant during your period. Its all about where the egg is, and during your period the egg is hanging around inside your tubes and uterus - so theres always a chance.
Hope this helps x x

If you want to get pregnant, try it.
That is an old wives tale.
You can get preggers by having unprotected sex ANYTIME.
You can also catch STDs anytime.
