You deep fry them in either vegetable oil or a combination of vegetable oil with animal fat or lard, but vegetable oil is healthier.

It is not the same thing. Vegetable oil comes from a plant where grease comes from animal fat. However, you could use vegetable oil to make doughnuts. It is also more healthier. Good luck and enjoy those doughnuts!!!

Canola Oil is good too. Just make sure that the oil temp is between 360 and 375 degrees. If it is too hot, you'll burn everything and have to throw out the oil and start over.

I think veg. oil would be healthier because grease (as in solid lard you mean, right?) is most of the time animal based and not as good for you. Definitely use the veg. oil.

yeah, that is possible. However, you can't boil oil... it just get really hot... and the hotter it gets, it becomes black. Just for info..

you gonna share some doughnuts with us? :)

Yes, you can use vegetable oil instead of grease/shortening.
