Hi! Okay, so I really want to volunteer at my local head start branch. However, I don't know how old you have to be to be a volunteer, and I also don't know if they need any volunteers (I know the Head Start program always has loads of volunteers).

Can you please help me find Las Vegas' Head Start website?
Also, if you have ever volunteered at a head start school, can you please share your experiences?

I am an assistant principal with a Head Start facility on my campus. My school has a volunteer coordinator who handles all volunteer related issues. You have to be 18 or older to volunteer, and unless you are fingerprinted and have a formal background check, you cannot work with the children. However, we have had some collaboration with high school students, but it was arranged through the high school , and the students didn't come in on their own. If you are a high school student, maybe there is a program at your school that can help you volunteer.

Yes.....I did volunteer at headstart, a few years back.....ITS a wonderful experience....All I did was go to my local headstart and told them I would like to help where ever they needed it....And they immediately put me as a teacher's assistant.....Don't hold back, just go for it, you won't regret it.....Do to the liability concerns, they may run a back ground check on you, when I went, they didn't run a background check on me, but times have changed....Also, as far as age is concerned, I think you have to be at least 18.....Best of luck!
