I am sorry for you that there are so many close-minded jerks out there. You sound so sincere. Read as much as you can before making the decision to be Wiccan. And don't be close-minded yourself about different things. I did a lot of study and research before I chose this path. Also do not be deluded into thinking you need to join a coven to practice Wicca. Many of us do not belong to covens or organized denominations. You might look in your area for a Unitarian Church if you desire organization. The vast majority of the Wiccans that I am friends with are Solitary witches. Tho we do often get together for some celebrations. Most of them are considered "Hedge Witches" while I am Pictish. Please contact me if I can help.
Blessed Be! )o(

Wicca is indeed a religion. It's very hard to detail it out here. There is a Goddess and a God. Wicca has several traditions, which is basically different ways of practicing it. The one thing that is a must is to remember this "And it harm none, do what they wilt." It does not recognize Satan, therefore he isn't worshiped. Christians are quick to confuse the Horned God with Satan.
So, to all people who think it's evil, I just say to you that you are ignorant of the religion. Though there are spells and magik-there aren't used for bad things as it would go completely against the belief of true Wiccans.
Do a lot of reading on the subject. And don't worry, it's easy to get confused and remember it's okay if you can't remember things. Eventually, you will find the way that fits you. Before you start trying to find a coven to accept you, you really need to gain some understanding about this. You can't just wake up one day and decide to find a coven to join when you don't know the basics behind the Wicca beliefs. I am not saying this to be harsh but to encourage you to learn more.
As far as finding a coven to accept you, that may be hard. You don't have to be in a coven to practice it, a lot of people practice this solo.

First, you might look into some books. There was another thread earlier where people were mentioning some good books.

Check out http://www.witchvox.net for networking with Wiccans in your area, finding good books, finding local metaphysical stores, and reading articles about Wicca.

Good luck!

Wicca is more of a "life philosophy" rather than a religion.
I suggest that you google "wicca in ontario" and start your search there.
Very good luck to you. Above all else, avoid going to any church that would denigrate or liken your choice of belief to an imaginary "satan" like the first moron did.

I dont know anything about "wicca", but I like to burn candles, and I collect candle holders and now you can get all that stuff cheap at the dollar stores, does that count? Listen to your inner self. Be your own person, dont become a clone of others/set your own path. (Ontario)

God has placed in each of us a desire to know Him and an innate knowledge of Him (like an adopted child searching for their biological roots). You are searching girl, I've been we're you at. I would really advise you to research and think about what God you choose to follow as it can have serious consequences for your life.

Witches and witchcraft do not come from God so therefore they are tools of Satan.
