some say to do so while others say the boston butt already has so much fat that brining isnt neccessary. Any advice?

jstlttllm you are tooooo funny, I'm about to give you a jerky recipe for that butt if you don't get it in the oven soon, wait that's it you're trying to stall so you don't have to cook it tonite, AHA! ok we understand, our secret, if ya want to stall longer Brine away, but let me tell you, either way you're going to have one tastie piece of meat. before making a mistake take that slow cooker out and place the meat in side on high heat with bbq sauce all over it like a whole bottle then cook all day and 5-10 mins before dinner shredded and then place on buns and u have shredded pork sandwiches

Pork meat does have a lot of fat . So it is your choice.
