the jewish people seem to mostly get their salvation information. So, are the jewish people saved if they only get their information from the old testament?

and if so, then why do non-jews need the new testament?

Good reasoning-----------------------the NT is a made up religion that is not part of the Tanakh (what you call the OT).

I don't know about Jewish belief on salvation, really, so for their perspective, someone else will have to give it. But I was a Christian for years, so...

From the Christian belief, in the Old Testament, salvation was obtained by following the law and those who did were redeemed when Jesus died.

Anyone who could follow the law perfectly, which was no one, would also have been saved. This is spoken of in the story of the rich man who was asking Jesus what he must do to be saved. Somewhere in Matthew I think.

In the New Testament, believing and accepting the sacrifice of Jesus was the path to salvation. The reason this is said to be needed is that no one was good enough to follow the law in the OT, and a "perfect" sacrifice (in the form of Jesus) was needed to make up for that.

The Jews believe in the Old Testament Jehovah as their Savior, and think he still has to come. They expect him to arrive from heaven, full of power and glory and wiping out all their enemies. So when the Savior appeared in a stall as a helpless infant (in the New Testament), they couldn't believe it was actually him. Therefore, they stick with the Old Testament and keep watching for Jehovah to come.

The next time Christ comes, it WILL be from heaven in power and glory, and he WILL wipe out the wicked. THe Jews will rejoice that he is finally here, and then he will explain to them and show them the nail prints in his hands and feet, and they will realize their mistake. I'm sure they will then accept him.

Don't understand your question..The OT in the Bible speaks of creation and the Jews. But the NT tells of Jesus life here on earth and how we are to witness, the church, and how to receive salvation. Also End time prophecies. Salvation is a gift for all who receive it!

Your question makes no sense. Salvation, as you understand it, is a Christian concept that is foreign to Judaism (and most other religionsa too).

Ask why does one need salvation and you'll find that your answer only makes sense within a Christian context, but not a Jewish one.

It sounds like a contradition, but it changed. The OT laws no longer apply.

Jesus is the only way to be saved. The OT and the NT are for study and example.

John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

the only way to get saved is through Jesus Christ, our Savior and the Son of God, who is mostly found in the New Testament.

no ; it is only through Jesus that salvation occurs ; that is the new testment; we believe in the same God; they don't believe that Jesus was the messiah; they are still waiting for the messiah; no one gets to the father except through the son.
