The Salvation Army has churches and also offers assistance to the community through various different offices. Their churches are called Corps, Citadels or Temples -depending on the size of the congregation. Their social services dept. handles the needs of the poor and needy within the community; their corrections dept. ministers to those within prisons and jails; they help those addicted to drugs and alcohol with excellent work programs and the Word of God; their League of Mercy ministers to those in hospitals. The Thrift Stores sell excellent 2nd hand items such as donated furniture and clothing at excellent, affordable prices. Their Self Denial Fund program funds missionaries all over the world. They have numerous other ministries, too.

Some get paid and some volunteer. The officers are trained and lots of them are Pastors. They go to training college usually as far as I know. The centers are where you go for services..such as shelter, food, clothes, help with bills. Our church goes to local center each Saturday to feed homeless.

If you belong to the Salvation Army you work at the Centers.I'm not even sure if they are paid.
Good organization though.
