I have Office Suite 2003 (home/student edition), and I can't align the text to the right side of the page.

Justification and align left work fine, but align right is not an option. Does that sound weird to you?

It should work. Try this, type your work, then select it.
Do you see the right-align button on the formatting toolbar?

Sometimes, when two toolbars are on the same line, some buttons are hidden but there is a down arrow indicating more options.

Do you see the right-align button now?

If not, click the show/hide button (immediately to the left of the percentage sign). Have you accidentally entered a non-printing character which would interfere with right-align?
