Would you feel this person is in self gain or really in need and wanting a real, honest and forward person who can spare the money with no problem? In other words would you do research or just belive them? Be honest please!

I would do a little research. There are many deceivers in this world and a lot of them know that some Christians make easy marks. People of the church are not called to be unwise in their stewardship of God's provision.

That having been said, if I had the money and it was a Christian brother or sister who needed a car, I would still pray about it because God knows how and when He wants to provide provision for our lives. I didn't have a car for quite a while. I rode my bicycle and took public transportation for everything including grocery shopping.

During that time I benefitted from the exercise, opportunities to pray, and opportunities to witness to people whom I would meet up with at bus stops and train stations. One time I even gave a brother $40 that I met at a bus stop. After talking with him for a while about church and Jesus he told me about a new job that he had gotten and how he was on his way to a church where he hoped they would give him some money to get to work and back until he got paid. He didn't ask me for any money but the Lord put it on my heart on that occasion to be a source of blessing.

I'd research a bit, see if they are having problems getting a job or something without a car. I wish I had that kind of money to give someone a car, someone who needs it. I went without one for over two years myself....

Uh...sure, maybe there are lots of people who need a car and they might wish for it, but doesn't mean that many of those people would actually think it's a realistic wish. Anyone who does think it's a realistic want and that someone should get it for them, just a bit self centered...

I wish someone would have thought to do that for my mom and I. Up until I was 14 we didn't have a car.....we have one now though but it was real rough not having it.
