My parents had a real problem w/ fleas one year (they had 2 cats at the time, 1 of which has since died from cancer). They used Frontline Plus for cats, I don't recommend purchasing it from anywhere other than the vet office, they say if it is purchased anywhere else it is very likely to be too strong of medicine and harm the kitty. Once you have the Frontline Plus, my parents also had an exterminator spray the inside of the house, they took the cats to the vets for a day, and they also sprinkled some dry powdery stuff for the fleas over the entire yard, even if the kitty doesn't go outside, the fleas jump on you and come inside also.

Frontline Plus. If you read the insert in the package, it will tell you that it not only kills fleas on the cat, but also kills fleas, flea eggs, and flea larvae in the cat's environment. Unless you have fleas jumping all over you, your house is not infested, and you don't need to worry about steam cleaning or bombing. Be sure to get the Frontline Plus and not the straight Frontline. There is a difference between the two products. Apply the Frontline Plus to the cat's skin (part the hair), that is very important. If you just apply it to the hair, it won't work as directed. Then just allow your cat to live her normal life, and your house should be flea free within a few days. This product is not a prescription and can be purchased through your vet, at pet stores, and on-line at pet supply sites.

People think that summer is the worse for fleas, but these pesky things are year round. Revolution topical fleas, tick, mosquito, ear mite, and all worms except tape. It will also take care of heartworms. I can not rave on this product enough. Get it at vet/ or animal shelter. It is once a month and I have had great results as far as the cats coat being thicker, healthy shinny after just a few months applications.

Have your house "flea bombed." Steam clean all carpeting.
Wash your cat or have a professional bathe your cat.
Comb the Cat: Using a flea comb, comb carefully throughout the entire body of the cat. Keep a jar or bowl of diluted bleach nearby, and as you collect fleas on the comb, shake them into the jar. The fleas will die quickly.
Bathe the Cat: If you and your cat are up to it, a bath will drown most remaining fleas. It isn't necessary to use a "flea" shampoo or a "flea dip" for this purpose. Just a mild cat or baby shampoo will do the job handsomely.

I don't know of anything that keeps fleas from coming back, de flea pet and bedding spray is natural I get mine at a pet store. Also if you do have to use a flea treatment you don't have to use the whole thing just use a few drops, I have 6 cats and 4 dogs and I use one large packet for dogs between all my animals. Hope this helps. :)

ok this happened to me! we took my cat to the vet and they said she had fleas this is what they told me: first get some frontline from the vet they will know what your talking about and immediatly put it on your cat. 2nd go to wal mart or wherever and they have a flea killing spray spray it where your cat has been the most since its had fleas you will know because there will be little black and white specks everywhere (like salt and pepper) the put let your cat do whatever. the fleas will jump on your cat die immediatly because the frontline kills them instantly it took my cat about 2 weeks to completely get rid of them but she had them for a while. plus they get them out of your house too!!

There's a couple of ways that are very effective and especially when used together. First, go to your vet and get Frontline Plus for cats. You can get it over the counter and you don't have to have an appt. or anything. Secondly, get yourself a flea comb made for cats and comb her twice per day. When you comb her, make sure you have a sinkful or a bucket full of real soapy water, and when you get fleas on the comb, dunk them right away and it will kill them.

Only get vet perscribed medicine, like frontline. It works wonders and you apply it every month. Over the counter can cause problems and even kill them. Also, you might want to see about bombing the house as well.
