If Tom can get married, all the other gays that want to get married should be able to as well. Tom got married for publicity and because he felt it was in his best interest to do so.
The Scientology cult is his master, and he is one of their most valuable puppets. Tom was looking bad after having made such an *** out of himself, and getting married is all part of improving his image so it won't tarnish the church of Scientology.

It's her choice if she wants to be an idiot and married to one. Hollywood marriages don't last any period of time, everyone knows that. But if God did exist, we wouldn't have to hear about either of them.
Why their wedding made headline news I have no clue. They're not that important.
