Older cats are more likely to be house broken and much less rambunctious. They will be easier to keep up with.
If these cats are coming from a pet shelter, they are also more likely to be put down sooner than kittens. Kittens are adopted much more readily than older cats.
People have a tendancy to want to adopt kittens. Then when they get them home and find out how much effort they entail and how much damage a young, energetic kitten cat do; they don't want them any more and abondon them. This can also often be the story that a lot of older cats that wind up in shelters.
Another thing to consider is have you ever had a cat before?
If not, I would recommend adopting the older cats as it will be easier for you to adjust to living with one, and to learn what is involved in caring for them.
Now, on the other hand if you are an experienced cat owner, and you have a lot of time and energy on your hands; you may decide you want to go with the kitten.
Just remember, having a kitten is a lot like having a toddler. They need a lot of attention and playtime with you. You essentially become their parent. They will also try to get into everything. Climb everything. Swing from anything they can. Chase everything that moves. Knock things over and down. Attack anything and everything, especially if it moves (including Feet and Hands). Claw everthing. They will constantly be underfoot, particularly in the kitchen. All of this of coarse is all inplayfullness.
On the upside, they can be a great source of amusement and companionship and are generally more affectionate and interactive than oder cats who may tend to keep more to themselves.
Older cats affection tends to be more in the manner of wanting to cuddle, but on their terms. Kittens are more playfully affectionate.
Hope this helps you to make the right decision for you.

I love kittens they are just so cute, however, I myself prefer to adopt older cats for a couple of reasons. The first being that they are playful but settled, they will probably not run up your curtains and things that little kittens do. The other reason I prefer an older cat is that their personality is fully developed and you can see how they are and there are usually no surprises, they are what they are when they are full grown. Besides that most people usually want a kitten and so many really sweet older cats just get overlooked because they aren't small kittens anymore.
I hope this helped you. Good Luck in your choice.

Although kittens are great to have...I have always preffered older cats, and in the future, once my 2 cats pass on, I will go out and adopt an adult cat. I just think that it is so hard for older cats to find homes as EVERYONE wants kittens. Just make sure the owners are not giving up the cats because of some behavioral problems or personality issues. Find out as much info about them as you can. Remember too...kittenhood is only temporary, it will not last forever, soon they will be adult cats as well.

Kittens are like raising kids, but they won't observe the time out rule. The two adults may have the most expensive part of their care out of the way, like the basic immunizations, spaying/neutering and require only annual checkups and boosters to maintain good health.
Older cats don't climb curtains, jump on you while you are sleeping, race through the house knocking things over. Kittens are sooo cute, and I love them...but... Older cats are much more difficult to place, and have reached the age of sanity.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

I am fond of older cats myself, but this is just me.
If you would like a kitten, please be ready for the responsibility. Make sure that the kitten was not taken away from it's mother too soon (as many are), and tend to whin alot, which could drive you bazerk! Kittens scratch alot and sometimes bite (nip) alot. They sometimes have to be trained (but so do older cats) not to scratch the furnature. From experience, I would choose the older cats, but it is whatever you are more comfortable with. Good luck with your new housemates!

Better buy one get one free in a pair I mean male/female.But have you think about the feeding and maintenance cost factor for one and two cats.If you are really an animal lover it does not matter if you buy a kitten or older. In my opinion older is better which can be customized according to your living habits.
