Ask your self this question would you consider it polite for someone to tell you, you have a hygene problem.
If you are good friends with this person tell them they have a hygene problem. If not let someone else tell them because it will embarrased them.
Buy them a gift of Hygene Products.

You will be doing them a favor. BUT be sure you talk to them privately. Tell them you are not being unkind but that you want to help them. Tell them you are sure they are not aware of the problem. Let them know that if you had the same problem, you would appreciate someone coming to you and telling you.
I had to do this where I was employed. The person had strong body odor. Everybody talkd about it, but no one was willing to approach the person.
It was a difficult thing to do, but the person was glad I told them. Hope it works out for you.

There is no polite way to tell someone they have bad hygiene. They most likely know and just dont care. It could be a medical problem too. They might be depressed or be having personal problems. They may have been raised in a diffrent culture or just have diffrent standards for personal care. Either way, say nothing and just be glad it's not you!

I have had a similar problem with a friend. It is hard but if you are a true friend you have to say something. This is what I said to my friend, "I don't want to hurt your feelings in any way, but sometimes you smell (or whatever the problem is). If it were me, I would hope you would say something to me, because we are friends. Just like if I had a piece of toilet paper hanging out of my skirt, you would tell me instead of letting me walk around looking like and idiot."
My friend took it pretty good. We are still friends. Approach it in a non attacking helpful way and everything should be fine.
Good luck!!

Great question. I think that if you're close to this person, genuinely care about them and feel that this problem is negatively affecting their life while they're completely unaware of it, then it's time to do something about it.
There are always creative ways of hinting at something without actually having to come right out and bluntly say it. For example, if your friend has B.O. issues you could casually rave to them about a new deodorant which is doing miracles for you and suggest that they might like to try it.

If your asking if it's polite I'd say no it's not polite but sometimes it has to be said. If it bothers you speak up. Don't make them feel bad. Just tell them little hints like smelling your own armpits if he smells. Pretend you think your armpits smell and say something like " Is that me? Do you smell that?" Let him know you smell something terrible. They'll get the hint.

If you have to be around them all the time then I would bring it up somehow.. either seriously or jokingly. If it was just a one time meeting of someone, it's best not to bring it up. I'm sure they realize they are not cleaning themselves properly or often enough. I can smell of I stink, I'm sure they realize that other people smell better and they could be lazy or poor... who knows.

If you let them know lightly, and don't say it behind their back...I had to tell a fiend of mine once, he NEVER washed. But I was like "have you ever thought that you might actually have an odour issue, instead of people making it up.", as opposed to OI YOU YOU SMELL!
you get where I'm coming from?
