its tasty scotish food
its a traditional Scottish dish. Although there are many recipes, it is normally made with the following ingredients: sheep's 'pluck' (heart, liver, and lungs), minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed with stock, and traditionally boiled in the animal's stomach for approximately an hour. It somewhat resembles stuffed intestines (pig intestines otherwise known as chitterlings), sausages and savoury puddings of which it is among the largest types. Most modern commercial haggis is prepared in a casing rather than an actual stomach. There are also meat-free recipes specifically for vegetarians which supposedly taste similar to the meat-based recipes.

Haggis is traditionally served with "neeps and tatties" (Scots: turnip and potatoes), each of these being mashed, separately. (The "neep" is the yellow vegetable called 'swede' in England and 'rutabaga' in the United States.)

Traditionally in Scotland it's served with mashed potatoes and turnips.

Lamb, beef, oatmeal, onion, and a special blend of seasoning and spices are all cooked together in a natural casing (often a sheep's stomach). Haggis was iImmortalised by the Scottish poet, Robert Burns and the Burns supper is celebrated on the 25th January, the anniversary of the poets birthday.
The haggis is the culinary centrepiece of the evening, carried in by the chef and preceded by a kilted piper. The Address to a Haggis is recited, during which the haggis is ceremoniously stabbed with a sharp knife.

It's actually quite nice if you don't focus on what's in it, but there are lots of vegetarian alternatives now that don't taste much different. Quite often you see it in Balmoral Chicken (chicken stuffed with haggis in a whisky sauce).

Yes. It's easily bought in the supermarkets (even south of the border) and cooks quickly in the microwave or boiled in a pan. Traditionally served with neeps (that's mashed turnip) and tatties (mashed potatoes) although I prefer just dipping it in tomato sauce. Mmm.

Aye to the neeps and tatties.

Haggis really just tastes like sausage mixed with lots of oats. It's not like you personally eat an entire sheep's stomach.
