Everyone on the planet will be participating in the next world war. The first inkling that WWIII has started will be when your video game or tv goes out from that EMP. You'll have 5 to 10 minutes to kiss your ***s goodbye.
By definition, world war will ensue when the strategic superpowers square off with one another into two camps. The current scenario in the middle east and Korean penninsula don't count, since they are relegated to the heap of regional conflicts, proxy wars, sabre rattling and brinksmanship.
In the first 30 minutes of a nuclear exchange, 1.1 billion souls will be killed, mostly in the US, Europe, Russian, China and Japan. Another 1 billion will die soon after from radiation poisoning. The northern hemisphere will be plunged into prolonged agony and barbarity.
The nuclear winter will eventually reach the southern hemisphere. In two years, all plant and animal life will be destroyed, at least those above ground. Those in deep shelters or isolated canyons, with sufficient water and provisions may survive.
So you ask, who will participate, the answer is 6.5 billion people. As Einstein is often quoted as saying, the World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones (ie, the previous war will have wiped out civilization).

Good question, I think It would depend on how patriotic I am feeling at the particular moment. A lot of factors might play in mind, like death rate for troops over there, am I being drafted which might mean a trip to Canada or Mexico. The War must be right in my mind, not furthering my countries agenda,

Depends. If it is for a good cause, like genocide, I'd participate when i turn 18. but if it's just to further incline Bush's stupidity in his attempt to bounce back, no.
