Here's a great recipe. I made this and added 1 cup of chopped walnuts---tastes delicious!

Pumpkin Bread
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
3 cups sugar
3 eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1-1/2 teaspoons ground cloves
1-1/2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
1 can (16 ounces) solid-pack pumpkin
In a mixing bowl, dream butter and sugar. Add eggs; mix well. Combine dry ingredients; stir into creamed mixture just until moistened. Stir in pumpkin. Pour into two greased 9-in. x 5-in. x 3-in. loaf pans. Bake at 350° for 1 hour or until bread tests done. Cool in pans for 10 minutes before removing to wire racks. Yield: 2 loaves.

Pumpkin puree is simple a cooked, pureed pumpkin. You can use canned pumpkin, just be sure it's not pumpkin pie filling.

The difference is that some recipes are written for fresh pumpkin and some are customized for canned for the purposes of easier measuring. Ex: how much fresh pumpkin = one can? How many cups are in a can? Fresh pumpkin recipes can have some waste if you use canned because the measurements are a little different.

In short, pumpkin puree = canned pumpkin or fresh, cooked, and pureed. They're interchangable.
