Is the world imperfect.
There is a direct relation, a fatal and mathematical one, between the work and the artificier. As you know a tree by it's fruit, you will know a craftsman by his works.
The world is a beautiful place. I'm the first to admit that. However, NO one would ever say that the world is a perfect place.
If I were to read a book filled with spelling errors, grammatical mistakes, sentences that are poor and the style neglected, where the ideas are common and quotes incorrect, I would certainly not attribute that ugly work to a master of literature now would I?
The same goes for the universe. It is an imperfect place, and it always has been.
Perfection can never determine imperfection. Period.
The world is imperfect because it is a natural thing, free of any supernatural influence. Which is good since the supernatural only exists in the imagination of those too stupid to understand reality.

Nia, so what your saying is that the world WAS perfect, and god's creation, man, even though he KNEW them to be imperfect, punished them because they were what he made them in the first place.
Your cult is even more fvcked up than I thought...

Denverfan and others like you;
See the note to Nia.
Is this the ONLY thing you guys can come up with? What an utter cop-out. It really is pathetic. "dude it's Adam and Eve's fault!" Uh huh. Blaming two fictional characters in a book of mythology. That just sad.
All of you have my pity.

Delmanna67,
So your saying that Satan and man are more powerful than god?
Because that is the ONLY way they could corrupt the creation of an all-powerful deity.

They'll tell you it's original sin. What I want to know is that if it's divine justice to punish an entire species for the sins of the ancestors, why aren't Christians proposing this as a means of jurisprudence? If your great grandfather killed his wife sixty years before you were born, YOU get to go to prison for it? If it's God's way, why don't Christians insist we do it on Earth?
I REALLY hope I don't put ideas into some fanatic's head with that one....

I made the very same point you are making when I was in philosophy class and we were discussing the possible nature of God. If God exists, then the fact that his creation is imperfect makes him an imperfect creator. Even if it is just a perception of imperfection, that perception is God's doing, which still means he made an error. Its simple logic. When I brought this point up, I was engaged in a heated debate with a strict catholic who refused to believe that his God could be flawed. Not able to defeat me on logical terms, he got frustrated, called me blasphemous and stormed out of the classroom. It was so funny to me, I was laughing in victory, but my classmates thought I was in the wrong for attacking his religion. It's not my fault he couldn't back up his claims. I take that experience as evidence of a thought I formed long ago, that religious conviction is usually more emotional than intellectual. Whether or not religion makes logical sense, it makes people feel better about life, and that's why they believe.

Well that's not true, the universe is perfect, its humans that are not and think just because they can think and say what they want, that doesn't make you as smart as you think. So think of ways in improving the world and it's people. Is there a god or a something greater than ourselves I don't know but I sure hope there is. Why, because I hope there is something at the end of our time on earth to explain all the suffering and why our leader were allowed to do the things they did and do, and don't you ever have fantasies about anything, not even what if, brother we are all alike in that respect

kind... God is spiritual that people use to believe about. He should be perfect, greatest person that keep us rectitude, have strong attitude, or maybe human is too weak, religion holding over the world. We should believe the perfection to creat good life, even we are not at all. If someone compares with realize, that lot of people are faults, so he wouldn't want to be good either. What is the consequense about, it means world more worst. We should think and believe of perfect world, still have good personal, should learn, and you know the determine of perfection start right here...

How is the world not perfect? It IS perfect, for sustaining life. If the elements in the air were off even the tiniest bit, we would not be able to survive.
It is a mathematical impossibility that out of all the BILLIONS of combinations of elements for the air that EXACTLY the right ones are present, so that our lungs can breathe it in.
Sure, maybe it's filling the gaps in science to assume that it's God, but it takes no more faith to believe it's God, than to believe that eventually those gaps will be filled by science.
To those of us who believe in God AND science (like myself, thank you), we have found that science actually explains the Bible, rather than disproves it.

I'll bet you have a great view from up there, but your rest is footed in sand. In a season your comforts will turn against you, and you will tire of throwing yourself continually through the wood chipper. Try the other door next time. If you don't get it, you should spend 5 points and ask others.

It was perfect in the beginning, before Satan and man made it imperfect. Free choice, you know. Just as you have.
There will be a new heaven and a new earth perfect, wherein dwelleth righteousnss. The next earth will remain perfect. Too bad you won't be around to enjoy it. Free choice, you know. You're free to remain in your unbelief and forfiet your life on the new earth! Sorry!!!

Ok, the question. Religious people arnt going to know what to say to you. If "God" were perfect and all good, then whats up with the plagues? Todays "God" would never torture and wipe out that many innocent people would he? I dont think a "perfect" world would work. CHOICE is what makes the world the way it is. There has to be good and evil without a distinct line. If there wasnt there wouldnt be any reason for CHOICE. Although, I dont understand the reason. **** this my head hurts.
ok, I keep adding stuff. People, are your minds so small as to think our "all powerfull, good, and loving" God will send us to the firey ashs of hell for reasoning? He gave us that power (different from all other animals) knowing what we'd do with it. Wondering or having a different veiw than yours is.. god i give up.
