Surely asking the "expert" that wrote it would be your best bet. We can only give you our own ideas... they will give you the facts!
But to me it sounds like a load of hogwash!

Developmental delay refers to someone who has not met physical, cognitive and/or psychological milestones within the normal timeline. Global developmental delay usually encompasses each of these fields. For example, if she did not learn to sit unsupported, cannot maintain focus on an object, and/or has failed to form a supportive bond with the mother in a timeline that would be normal to meet each of these milestones, this may be considered global developmental delay.

My daughter has global developmental delay. It means that she is delayed of at least some significance in all areas such as speech/language, fine motor, and gross motor. The Dr. will want to start her in therapies such as speech, occupational and physical therapies. They helped my daugter emormously! Good luck to you and your daughter.

Lisa,
You didn't say if the delay was in any specific area. But in general developmental delay referrs to being alittle behind, behind perhaphs alittle for your child's age group or behind for his or her grade level. Most always short term, There is a rainbow to look for, for you and your child, it may take a year or a couple years and before you know it your child with just catch up to his/her age group or grade level. You can get a little boost for you child by checking in to the programs that your child's school provides as in speach, physical therapy, occupational therapy. The program is called ESE Exceptional Student Education. I believe that is what ESE stands for, but your school can for sure will know about it. If your school does not provide this program, ask the school what schools do have this program. The program helps immensely but i assure you that your child will catch up!! Your child will not feel differant or stupid, My son was in that program in elementry and part of middle school, he was just a kid that needed a little nudge. Assurance from you and your child's father is so important in supporting and reasurring your child that he is smart and he/she is wonderful, but the help of the school is very important, our kids know he or she is special to us- but they need to know that the teachers feel the same. It's just that they are a little imature. Your child will catch up. My son went through it and he is completely caught up and talking about collage, and he is very capable to going to collage. My son was atleast two years behind developmentally. My e-address is cjydawn@yahoo.com. let me know what you found out from the school!
God Bless,

If I recall correctly it is a fairly common thing that they outgrow...sometimes testing isgiving everyone waaaaay to much information. Einstein was thought to be "retarded"(that old word) and did not speak until he was 4...

the scope of throwing in to a context of desires for presentation is always better if you got the"expert-from-a-far" feature coming in as a guarantee that you are correct in assumption. like saying everybody is on our side we just have to get them organized and financed like this is never possible because gives the impression that your on the right track. religions have it schools promise it job offers make you feel your making the right choice it's just propaganda, developmental can all most be seed planting
