ive been sick for over 2 weeks now, and i dont seem to be getting any better. i am a smoker, i went to the doctor because my right lymph node was swollen and there was a lump in my throat. he said that it was a lump of mucus and it was causing my throat to be sore. he told me that it was a sinus infection, but im not really sure that it is. he did chest and head x-rays and blood tests and they all came back fine. do i really have a sinus infection or is it something else???? please help... thanks in advance

Get a throat culture if you haven't already to rule out strep or mono.

one thing being a smoker increases your risk at getting sick and get cancers and etc. as you might know. since it been 2 weeks and have not gotten any better see a doctor. something could of pop up since and gotten worse.i don't want to scare you off or anything but it might be throat cancer

Hard to say what it is. Either go back or get a second opinion. If you finished your antibiotics and are still sick, then something is wrong. Without a physical exam and lab results and an MD behind my name, I can't diagnose anything.

Please, either go back to the same doctor or see another one. But if it has been two weeks, your doctor isn't doing his job, please go see him or another doctor right away. Anything wrong in the throat can lead to much worse things, simply because you swallow and it can and will spread. Once again please go see a doctor or go to the hospital.

Do you have other symptoms or do you just have the lump?
