How come the Bible has so many different versions? Who do you believe in?

There aren't different versions, just different translations. And they aren't even all that different. You can get a paralell bible with the same passages in 8 different translations side by side, and they all communicate the same idea.Here's an example:

It depends on what you mean by different versions? For example the King James Version, New American Standard version etc. These are translations made from surviving original manuscripts into the english language. At the time the King James Version was written, this is the way people spoke. The American Standard was written in a more modern day english language. So while the wording may seem slightly different, the message remains unchanged. The Dead Sea Scrolls were a major find, in that they contained the Bible with no changes and are the oldest surviving manuscripts, thus proving that neither man nor the church has changed the original works of God.

The different versions are really just a way of making the scriptures more understandable to a wider variety of people and cultures. A good "reading" Bible is the Living Bible. However it is not a good "Study" Bible. A good "Study" Bible is the New American Standard. It is my understanding that it is the most accurately translated (Almost word for word) Bible available today. You can even buy a word for word translation of the Bible, but I warn you it is sort of like reading Spanish word for word. The language differences sometimes make sentences sound a little sideways.

The ancient writings that form the modern Bible were written in languages that would not be understood today. What you call different "versions" are, in reality, different translations.

Some translations are intended to make the Bible more "readable", for example, the Good News Bible or The Good News for Modern Man.

The Authorised or King James Version, whilst one of the best translations was written in a form of English that was already a hundred years out of date!

Personally, I prefer the Revised Standard Version, or, if I am using it for study purposes, The Jerusalem Bible.

The Bible is written by men. Men have different views and opinions and will use that as a guide to fit what they want to pass to others. I believe there was a man who was kind and had special abilities and his powers touched lives from one land through to another and many believed although they had not seen. If you will note Jesus has many names and people take out of the Bible what they want to fit their own personal beliefs. For instance Jesus is described as bronze skinned with hair of wool but how has he been portrayed? Blonde hair and blue eyes. There is the contradiction of actual and belief. With all of the MILLIONS of people who have read the Bible cover to cover, who call themselves Christians and believers, you would think this fact would be corrected and the falsehood changed but no, it won't be. They let the false personage of Jesus carry on for centuries.
That is the ACTION OF MAN. There is nothing spiritual about it. Folks would rather believe in a lie than the truth. The Bible is a contradiction because of mankinds perceptions. That is why there are so many versions.

Religion was designed by an evil order of men in power to control the masses. It can be a good thing because it holds some very good ideals and moral values. If you look at history, however, you will discover that nearly every major military conflict between nations has almost always been inspired by a difference of belief systems. To answer your question, there are several different versions of the bible because there are several different interpretations. Research it for yourself, and make your own decision. Exercise your free will.

The bible dosen't have so many versions it is just changed to the way people wnat it to be or they arlter things One of the most correct versions is the King James version. No bible can be perfect because translating it form one langue to another is hard and there aren't words for every thing. But if you want the most correct version of them all it is the Joseph Smith bible.

that is contained in the King James, New international Translation, American time-honored version, youthful's Literal Translation and Darby Translation. those were purely those i might want to locate in a couple of minutes. the authentic question is why do not all translations use God's call? @Dr Bob: you may locate truth In Translation by Jason D. BeDuhn interesting. He disagrees with your statement. His honest prognosis ranks the NWT very severe even as nonetheless disagreeing on some parts. he's not one among Jehovah's Witnesses and delivers an impartial opinion.

The Bible has so many different versions, because men are constantly looking for ways to 'fit' the Bible into their version of what they want to believe. I guess to really get the true Word of God, you should go back to the original Hebrew/Greek texts. For me, I find that the KJV is the most literal/accurate translation. -and I've done quite a bit of research on it to find out. THe modern versions definitely are not nearly as correct to the original text as the KJV. hope that helps a bit:)

Why does the world have so many different languages.? Does house mean boat in another language... or does it mean house as well?

Same idea with the bible... you can have different ways of translating, and still be accurate to the original meaning.

Many English translations, just like there are many English translations of the Koran and they don't match 100%. Try looking at the errors of your own religion and don't obsess about other religions. God doesn't want you to do that.
