ok ok this is a serious question so please respect it, no matter what you believe(it doesn't really apply to this question). don't you think we should be spending our time trying to make this life better, instead of fighting, because in the end this may be the only one? to me it makes it seem like this life is more special and we are more beautiful..*if* it's the only one. call it whatever you will, but i don't think we're doing a good job with our responsibilities.

brianna, i believe we get many as well, but i chose to keep my beliefs out the question too because i didn't want people to respond based just on that.

You are asking those who have found a meaning in their life? All? Also those who are totally caught following the meaning given by our society? Probably not, otherwise you wouldn't ask... So you are talking about a *meaning* that is different than having success, being some body or owning a lot? What meaning could this be? Oh yes: You want to be really happy without depending on any person, condition or situation. Does being happy give meaning to life? Well, then at least one doesn't need to question oneself and complain about any thing. But there is something missing... It has something to do with my *existence* ! Why do I need to find a meaning for this? I do exist, there is no doubt about this! I don't need to find any 'meaning' for this! Deborah, I can understand you very well. I went through the same as you. - that was twenty years ago. I am writing this because I have found *meaning* in my life even though it is not possible for me to explain it so that one could follow any advice. It is simple for me: I just enjoy my *existence* and indeed this doesn't depend on any outside condition. So as a result, or maybe it is just a side effect: I'm also 'happy'. How I came to this? By taking self responsibility and getting out of the usual social games, freeing myself from conventional concepts and manipulations. Relating to life the best I'm capable and learning and growing with each step I take. Dear Deborah, you are not alone. You are on the right path! Go on! We might meet one day... Well, we did: right now! Thank you. Rahmona

Ok, you have a point. But some would consider debate and discussion VERY important.

Right now in my country there is a battle for the heart and mind of the country. The radical religious right wants to turn the country socially to the right. Since I used to BE one of these people, I know why they think the way they do. And since I am no longer one of those people, I think it is critically important to do whatever I can to reasonably discuss things to get them to turn away from dogmatism.

Yes, I have "a life" away from this. Where I volunteer and do meaningful things in other ways. This is what I do in my "down" time.

I view life much like going to school. Are we less concerned about doing well, because we can always repeat the grade, or would we like to do our best so we can graduate to the next level?

Likewise, I believe life should mean more regardless of the number of chances. We should not live our lives based on the threat of hell or the reward of heaven.

Absolutely. I think it's sad that so many people spend so much time worrying about an afterlife that probably won't even happen, and forget to make this life the best that it can be.

I think that often but if I try really hard it goes away and then I do not have to try as hard. Sleeping relieves this anxiety well.

The harder you try the more behinder you get. Check out the word rest in your concordance. It is like being dumped into the water if you can not swim flailing around cause you to drown fast but if you relax you will flout-- flute ,, floot well anyway you drown much slower.

You believe we get one chance, i believe we get many, however if you screw up enough you wont get but a few. I have been a fox a wolverine a badger a tasmanian tiger a hawk moray eel and a human (about ten) I do what i want to with it, i dont harm others unless provoked, and i keep to myself most of the time.

I agree...so take it and make it as good as you can make it to be...within limits..this is the only life before the ultimate life..the afterlife..this life is the test before the real deal begins.
