My baby is 1 year old and is not feeling well her temp. is 101.2 and she just will not eat or drink I'm not as worried about her not eating as I am drinking because of dehydration are there any mommies or daddies who can tell me how to get something into her tummy or even get her to keep some fluids in her

Dakotha, try some flat 7up or sprite. Don't let it right off the can or bottle, let it get flat before giving it her. Popsicles are really good too. No milk products, nothing to upset her little tummy.

Get in the tub with her. Just don't let the water get cold. Just tempid, not too hot, not too cold. Take a small cup and run the water over her, and sometimes this will help break the fever. Give her something to drink while in the tub, she will think she's having the best time with Mommy in the tub with her. Her fever will go up at night, that's normal. But it's scarey.

Don't give her orange juice either, a little apple juice or grape should be ok. But pedilite has a sweeten water made just for these kind of things, you can get it at the grocery store or Walmart. It has eletraclites in it, and that is something your baby girl needs. Do you have something to rum on her gums? My youngest hurt so bad till we had to get a prescription from the doctor, my oldest the Orajel was just fine.

The doctor is right, she will eat when she's feeling better, you are right about worrying about her drinking. Give her something at least every 15 to 30 minutes while she's awake, is she still on a bottle, that could be a little comforting to her too. She doesn't have to drink alot very time, but a few sips here and there. If she cries and there are no tears, then it's time to go to the hospital-that's a sign of dehydration.

Give her love and comfort and try the bath thing. My kids loved that, my littlest and I spent a many of nights in the tub together during teething. Praying she and you can have a good night sleep and that she will be feeling better soon.

God bless us all...............

Try some pedialyte or something similar, but you should probably call your dr to be sure... they may want you to come in. If she's acting fairly normal, but just running a temp, they always told me not to worry. It's when they're really sleepy and just not acting themselves is where you need to worry. Just like adults, sometimes they just don't want food when they're not feeling well, but because she's still very young, you at least want to try to do the fluids...

try giving her a Popsicle, they also have pedelight Popsicles. if she is not willing to those i would give her another day and take her to doctor, she may become dehydrated. but give the Popsicles a try.
