volkswagen--get a used one--they generally have good gas mileage & are reliable. Also, they are usually reliable up into the 300,000 miles.

Look a consumer reports magazine under "reliable used cars".

an older Toyota Corolla, Chevy Prism, or Honda Civic, are all cheap,reliable, and pretty easy to drive cars.

My first car was a 1977 Chrysler Cordoba. It was a big boat, but was probably safer then a newer car. It was always breaking down, so I got to learn about basic mechanics of a car.

it sounds dumb, but your very first car.. get a honda, there small some are inexpensive and their safe but for a second car i'm gettin a Ford 1500 dark green...

it goes with your check book if you have money a vette or mb not a lot a toyota less money a used ford and almost no money a pinto or vega,have you even heard of a pinto
