Hi, Trisha I am a mother also. What I did about my kid eating too much is I told him and showed him what happens to people who abuse food. Heart attacks stroke ect... Please do what I did lock the cupboard doors. Tell him he can eat at meals, he can eat what you give him and he doesn;t like that, he can eat somewhere else. Explain to him you can't afford it. Let him know you love him but that this is it, talk to him in a calm voice, that's very important. I hope this helps. Oh! also you could borrow from any library, all about food. It's allows people to see what is done to food before it reaches the stores. I don't shop for meat, vegetables products in a grocery store. You would not believe what is done to food. All the antibiotics, and food colouring ect. Hope this helps.

you need to put only healthy food in the house and not junk. wholesome food God,s food. Eat well yourself, he will follow by example. He may be unhappy and that is why he may be eating so much are you giving him enough attention. take him to the gym. play sports together go swimming, read joyce meyer book lookgrat feel great you can get it on www.joycemeyer.org, it has totally change the way i eat and i have tried weighwatchers and everything. Don,t let it get you down, pray about this, and see you doctor so he can see a dieticain, he may not know how to eat good. teach him.

It could be that he has an illness known as Prader-Willi Syndrome.
Prader-Willi syndrome is a complex genetic disorder, which is present from birth. Its main characteristics are:
excessive appetite
low muscle tone
emotional instability
immature physical development
learning disabilities (sometimes very mild)
He needs help from a qualified medical professional. If he refuses to go, then lay it on the line and tell him you will support him if he does seek help, but that you cannot continue with things as they are.
If you have to ask him to leave and get a place of his own, I wouldn't say this is unreasonable at the age of 24.

I think he might be suffering from a hookworm infection. Hookworms are parasites which live in the small intestines. Most people infected don't usually show any signs of symptoms save for the voracious eating. Sometimes the individual may experience constipation, dysentry or oedema to name a few. You should take him to your GP as this might be a medical problem unless if he is hooked on drugs.

Does he work? Does he have friends? Does he share the expenses of the house? Have you tried to put a stop to it? If all the answers are NO, I would look for professional help or kick him out.
