When My ex and I had our breakup session... He said that he still wanted to be friends and that he still would like to date me.. But its been a few months and we dont talk at all... I know hes not dating anyone and nether am I. I really liked him and he cared for me. But if he didnt want to date me anymore couldn't have he just told me that? I know that he prob. didnt want to hurt my feelings...why say things you dont mean???

Sometimes it's hard to tell the truth. I don't know your situation, but I'll give you a horrible example of why I wasn't honest once upon a long ago...
One of my exes was a really sweet girl, but once we started dating she started making her face up like a tart, stomped all over my feet like a Clydesdale when we danced, was just dreadful in bed, and worst of all, she had utterly horrible body odor. I could not take dating her any more.
When I left her I certainly didn't tell her all these things, just as little and as kindly as I could. And I most definitely didn't crush her ego by letting her know that I was interested in dating someone else, specifically a girl she hated who could dance, didn't look like a hooker, and didn't smell bad.
Sometimes not being completely honest is about kindness. Think how you'd feel if you were dumping a boy who was just what I described. You want to be kind, but sometimes saying the whole truth is cruel.

The last guy I dated for 3 yrs I broke up with and after that he told me he wanted to be friends. We are kinda friends off and on now. He says he still wants me in my life. If he did not want to be with you anymore he should of just sayed I dont feel things are working out lets breakup. My ex when we had our breakup session did not say thing he did not mean. I know he still cares for me and wants whats best for me. To me it seemed like this guy did not want to hurt you. But I at least feel he should of been honest with you.

ok this is an interesting question that raised an eyebrow. SO if you'll still liked each other and want to date why break up in the first place. Like me I am a man of my word, in other words my word is gold cause I do as I say. SO if he was going to break up with you and told you he was going to call and wanted to date and all that other stuff and don't do it, well he's a body part where the sun doesn't shine cause he has lied and his word is wak. so don't worry and get a new life without him. SOon enough he will realize what he missed and doesn't have anymore

Well in your case I'm not sure, maybe it just depends on the man. I know I just flat out say what I mean as nicely as possible. If I say I still want to be friends, I mean it cuz maybe I still care for that person but not to the point of dating them. So to answer your question, maybe it is because we don't to hurt your feelings and at the same time we kind of just lost interest in you. I don't know, I really don't want to put words in his mouth, maybe you should ask him.

They say things they don't mean for the same reasons girls say things they don't mean.
He didn't want to be friends, not really. He just wanted the pain of a break up to be less painful. Its a little white lie.
Move on. There are other boyfriends to be had and different friends to meet.
