I've had pretty good luck with one. I just bought another one on ebay. It would sometimes make a loud grinding noise when it starts spinning the disk. Sounds like something is off balance or something.

I have a friend who watches a lot of movies. He says Panasonic or Sony dvd players are more reliable.

Does anyone else have the same experience? Thanks.

in fact, i do, COBY is known for cheap products that are good for emergences, for example, we were supposed to bring a DVD player to a family event, but we forgot and went to a best buy and got this decent cheap 20 dollar coby DVD player. i have experianced the same problems you have and i would agree with your friend that sony and pannasonic make fantastic DVD players, but i would also like to add the brand toshiba to his list, for i have had one of those for my personal use for about 2 years now, and with CONSTANT useage i still have NO problems, NO noises, NO NOTHING but quality.

i had a coby dvd player, and it wasn't that great. I have had a panasonic dvd player for around 6 years, and it is great. I use the dvd player so much. It also plays bootlegged dvds, and vcds, which is a dvd from a different country.
