Ship it? Carry onboard on airplane? Check in luggage?

Package it (as it would be for preservation) and ship it INSURED and Confirmation Required (this means someone has to sign for it upon receiving it) to your destination. Have the hotel manager/owner at your destination be made aware BEFORE shipping it that you would like to do so and ask that they sign for it. Have it be delivered on the day you plan to arrive so there is no worries for the hotel staff about liability with it sitting there waiting for your arrival. (To do this you will have to talk to the Delivery Service you use and try to work it out for the dates expected (so like 2 day delivery or Overnight)).

I dont suggest taking it with you on the plane, because it is not insured and confirmed if you do - Unless you can manage it as a carry-on, then it is with you and you shouldnt need it confirmed (still isnt insured though unless you have wedding insurance).

Good Luck

You could ship it, but that is risky...Checking it as luggage is NOT a good idea. Most flights will allow you to store the dress, depending on size, onboard with you. They have closets where flight attendants keep their things, but they are usually willing to move it over. That is your best bet.

My best girlfriend carried hers on board th eplane with her - she advised the airline that she would be bringing her dress with her on board.
They were great, hung it up for her at the back of the plane, it was wonderful.
She did have it in a proper dress cover to prevent any accidents.

Carry on! When I was on my honeymoon, there was a couple at the resort getting married. The bride had checked her dress, and it got put on the wrong plane.

Could you talk to the concierge at the hotel to see if they'll accept a delivery before your check-in? That's what they're there for after all, it's their job.

And it's less stuff to haul around and on the plane.

Take it to a cleaning service and have them package it up in acid free paper as if you were going to put in in storage, then in close it in a air tight box and water tight. Then ship it if you have time insure it you'll have a tracking number in case it get misplaced and by insurance.
