I would highly recommend against that. If the size of the other partition is 1.67GB and it came like that with your computer, I would bet that the second partition contains your recovery files. You probably did not get a windows CD with your computer then. If you "de-partition" as you said, you will obviouslyloose everything in there.
One way to do it (if you still want to do it) is to just get norton partition magic (just get the trial), and then you can simply merge the two partitions together without having to format the entire disk and loosing everything on your computer.
But I warn you, you better know what you are doing or have someone around you who can help you (for cheap) if something goes wrong.

You would use a disk partion software such as Partition Logic (http://partitionlogic.org.uk/) to partition the drive. But you need to have the same amount of free space on the receiving partition. You would be better off move data to a external drive to insuring that you clean the C drive to temp drive and Internet files.

First get the Windows CD, start the installation, then when you get to the place you need to choose a partition, start deleting the partitions, this is the fastest way I have found for creating and deleting partitions, believe is pretty simple, just follow instructions as to press "D" to delete the partition and then confirm by pressing "L"

You can not remove the partition without reformatting. I can give you a link that deals with hard drive problems.
Some RAM/hard drive problems can be easily fixed yourself by using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful. Try this site, if you can get what is required.

You'd be much better off getting a new hard drive. 160gb is pretty cheap now and it will be much faster than the old drive. You can keep the old drive in there for a while till you're sure you have everything you need off of it. It can also be the source for all the hardware drivers you need if you don't have all the original disks.

Hi. You may have to reformat the drive. Usually a bit of a pain. A new HD with more space could be a better choice.

you could purchase softwear that can repartition but your money would be better spent on a new hd as they are quite cheap now.otherwise you would need to format your hd and lose all your data,if you need more space on c,you could possibly transfer some c files to d via drag and drop
