I think it comes down to personal preferences. Some people are comfortable with dating people much older or younger while some prefer the age to be pretty close. In my opinion, I don't really mind the age gap for 13 and 17, but I do find 13 to be just a little young. As long as the people are ok with themselves, then I think that public opinion should not be the deciding factor.

Sure it's just for a friend. But yes at that age, there is a world of difference in that 4-year gap. Not to mention in less than a year he will be breaking the law. Grow up and then worry about finding a guy. When you are 18 and he is 22 there is still major differences in maturity levels, but the gap isn't quite so bad. He is an adult (or almost) right now and you are still a child.
Besides that, if you have to ask this question, you're too young for it.

i cant say much but from experience when i was 15 i was with a 21 year old. i lost my virginity to him and later found out the only reason he was with me is because he wanted to take my virginity. sweety a 17 year old is in a whole different game than you. he's ready to be doing things that a 13 yr old shouldnt even know about. dont rush life. you have plenty of time in the future and when you are 20 and hes 23 youll both be adults and then it will be ok but right now a 13 year old is still a child, regardless of what you may think

This friend should be focusing on school and hanging out with friends. But if it must be then no it is never a good idea in your teens to date someone that much older, especially if the older one is the guy.
In my experience, please trust me I used to be one of these guys, older boys often take advantage of younger girls and try to assist them in bypassing the stage where they should be free and hand out with friends to be in a sexual relationship.
Your friend is most likely setting herself up to get her heart broken. If it would last until after highschool, the 17 year old boy is going to progress through the adult stages far before the girl putting the relationship in a whole different category than high school couple. The guy would feel like he needs to move on to adulthood and quit medling in high school affairs. I've seen it many times and have been that guy before. Try your best to keep this from happening.
I'm not saying that it has never worked out for anyone but the chance's are that it will not.

There is NOTHING a 13 year old girl can give a 17 year old guy except sex. PERIOD.
She can think and say whatever she wants, she can rationalize and believe anything, but at the end of a day, a 17 year old male has no business with a 13 year old unless he's getting sex out of it.

It is usually better because girls are more matue than guys...but in this case a 13 year old is way to young to be with a 17 year old...13 is just way to young to date

Depends on the situation, but usually at those ages there is a big gap in maturity and a difference in what people are looking for in a relationship, or know how to handle so tell "your friend" to be careful

13 is real young, you should be just starting to date and boys your age. At 17 boys are usually not in it for just a realtionship. They will get what they want, another knotch on the belt and move on.

It's illegal. But it depends on what kind of guy he is. Is he the kind whojust wants to get in your pants? I've been with my bf since I was 17 and he was 22. 1 year and 1/2. and it has been great. The good thing about older guys is they are more mature. Go on gurl, do what you do.
