Hey, I hear you.
I'm an atheist. Who previously went to a catholic school always hearing "PREACH THE GOSPEL, blah blah, GAWD, blah blah, HELLL!!"
Honestly, no one knows the truth so following your own path is okay. :)
Just tell those people to bug off.

Well that is what she believes and she is only trying to help you because she does not want you to go to hell. You have no proof that religion is fictional. It is good to find out about religions even if you don't wish to follow them, so that you can understand them more.

I understand that is can be heard to follow a religion when you have never had one because it is hard to understand that what is beyond this world even exists, if you know what i mean. But so many people join different religions every day, the biggest increase in religion so fat has been Islam.

I don't believe in hell. If we have a creator, and S/He never shows him/herself to us, and we don't believe in him/her, I don't think we'd get punished for all eternity. That idea sounds like a total setup to me, and I don't think our creator would do such a thing, if we even have a creator.

If there is a hell, and we go there just for not believing in something we've never seen, I'd rather go there than spend eternity with the creator that sends innocent people there.

But, like I said, I don't believe in hell. You will not go there.

I'm roman catholic, don't believe in hell, and don't try to force my beliefs on anyone else. I don't really agree with organized religion, I believe everyone should follow their own beliefs, as long as they don't include killing others for not agreeing with them. It's time people stop trying to fight for their religion and force it on others, and go back and get a reality check. Fighting because of your religious beliefs WILL NEVER SOLVE ANYTHING.

Just my thoughts.

Because this life is very short compared to all of eternity. And Jesus said that there was only one way to the Father....through Him. Please consider these words. Each of us has sinned in life, and no one can enter heaven with sin. That is why Jesus went to the cross, to pay the penalty for every sin you will ever commit. But only those who believe in Jesus will receive this forgiveness from God. Souls are eternal, and there are only two destinations after death; heaven and hell. Those who reject Jesus Christ will go to hell. I know it's hard to hear that....but your friend was right.

No one has to direct you to believe in anything. You have the complete freedom to believe in anything you wish. Good for you about your ex friend, I would not want to have a friend like that.

Honey, the beautiful thing that separate us from angels are our ability to choose what we want (due to Adam and eve). You can choose to know Jesus who already knows you and love you or you can choose not to. It's God's wish for all of us to come to know him but he will not make you choose to be his child unless you willingly come to him and believe in him by faith. Only then will you inherit his kingdom and be born again (meaning become a new person with him as your Lord and savior). Either you like it or not, he does exist and he will judge us all one day and "every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord". You can choose to start experiencing your new life with him or not. But remember, when he comes on judgment day to rule and save those who are his, you will either be put aside or be taken by him to his throne. Either way, you will confess him as Lord.
And by the way, it's not fairy tales what you read in the bible. Just pick one up and truly ask that he reveals himself to you and see what happens. "Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen" .
Remember hell is not only on judgment day, it's also on earth (life with out Christ). With out God, you are in hell because in him there is peace even in turmoils and tribulations.

Take care. I pray that you'll at least be challenge to give it a try.

well, to the followers of the book, it IS the word of god.
my advice is stay with no religion and stay skeptical. it's a safe route. someday you might find a niche in religion, or you might not. but why dedicate yourself to somethin you dont agree or believe in? so until your sure, stay undecided.

at least you must believe in being a good human being, and that is quite enough for you not to go to hell

You are a free person. There is no hell.
Live free and be happy, and let the friend believe in his demons...
