Jonah displayed the same qualities that we all do! He was human however he definitely did not want to go to Nineveh to warn the people there of Gods' judgment because he did not like them as they were cruel and almost the equivalent of the modern day Nazis. He wanted to see the people there destroyed and though that if he went in the opposite direction and didn't make it to there the Lord would destroy the place but the Lord had other plans for both Jonah and the city of Nineveh. Nineveh was a huge place and it took 3 days to walk across the city. When he did finally arrive the people repented including the king all of which was much to the disgust of Jonah as he wanted to see them destroyed. The story pictures Gods' greatness and forgiveness.

Absolutley not!
He did actually come to his senses and did his job, but that was a whole other story.

The fact that Jesus made mention of Jonah should solidify it for you, but God appointed a big fish (probably a whale shark) to rescue Jonah! Repentance in the belly of the fish!
It also served as a prophetic pattern as Jesus was in "the heart of the earth" for three days as Jonah was in the belly of the fish.

The inspired record teaches us that human nature is, well, human nature. We are imperfect and subject to fears, however, doing God's will should always come first.
Matthew 12:39-41
" In reply he said to them: “A wicked and adulterous generation keeps on seeking for a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Jo´nah the prophet. 40 For just as Jo´nah was in the belly of the huge fish three days and three nights, so the Son of man will be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights. 41 Men of Nin´e·veh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it; because they repented at what Jo´nah preached, but, look! something more than Jo´nah is here"

No, because Elijah the prophet ran away when Jezebel threatened to kill him.

No, not at all. Prophets are prophets, were and will always be the greatest people.

Think of it, they're chosen by God.

No, not to my way of thinking. His example is a good one for any one who feels that they have not done the right thing to know that granted another day, they can try again.

well i say yes.....you want to know why.......the definition of prophecy in biblical terms is that you're express something that god has told you....whether or not that is something that is foreshadowing...which most people believe. but if you still wonder about it....read about Jacob(Israel). he wrestled an angel UNTIL he was blessed by God...now that seems kinda rebellious, but that is who God chose to start His nation.
