Don't even get on the computer. Refuse to let yourself even try to. If you can't do this on your own, then give your computer to a friend for safekeeping! Delete your internet connection. (If there is a way to do that.) Go on a week-long trip with no computer.

Well, being that I'm a retired mental health professional of 20+ years experience, and having done my thesis several decades ago, my recommendation would be to make your question here the title of your thesis. Having spent a good portion of my career time on addictions, I can say addiction to the internet is as easy to get as addiction to tv, booze, sex, "love", and anything else, and so since you have some possible "traits" of said addiction, who but you would be a great researcher on the subject. The old phrase "It takes one to know one" would be very appropo here. Being that someone must have approached this subject in the past 20 years or so, and your question being indicative of your interest in the subject, you can put your possible addiction to good use. I know you already have a subject picked out, or most likely do, but if you get bored with it, try researching your question and putting it together as a thesis subject. I'd love to read what you have to say. God Bless you.

Sell your computer, especially if it is a desktop, because even if you are addicted to the Internet you will still need a laptop when travelling or for more convenient uses.
Or limit your computer use to just at your college library, where you will be less tempted to surf the web and maybe more motivated to do your work.

I find myself doing the same thing. I usually look for things to learn, like science and whatnot, but I can do it for hours. I love to read, and what better place to find things to read of your choosing? I have no clue what to do about it though... I just wanted to discuss something with you. You answered one of my previous questions. I want to write something, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in discussing the issue which you answered about. I'll tell you more if you are interested.

obviously you can't get rid of your computer totally if you need to rite up essays and stuff...but maybe if you get you interenet disconnected, and if you need to use the internet go to public place, like a libary or internet cafe where you are timmed, so you dont spend alot of time on it.. Also maybe you need to find something else that interests you, like scrapbooking or smething so when you dont have something to do you dont go straigt to your computer.

what i do is turn my computer completely off and unplug it before i go to bed. and eventually it will just become too time consuming to plug it back in and waith for it to boot up. then you will learn to get on the webb once a day or so, or just when you really need to.
