It depends on your definition of "rapture". If your rapture means that people will be taken on a random basis to heaven and that no one will know it...there is no scripture saying that. If the rapture means that the righteous living and the righteous who will be raised from the dead in the first resurrection will be taken to heaven at the second coming. Dictionary definition of rapture means":transporting of person to heaven" (1 Thess. 4:16,17)

Dear Hysteria,
You will not find the term "rapture" in the Bible per se. It is term that Christians have utilized to explain a "sudden catching away" or "caught up" If you look at the following references, I believe that youll better understand the meaning of "Rapture."
1. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
2. 1 Corinthians 15:49-54
3. John 5:28-29
4. John 6:39, 40
5. John 6:44, 54
6. John 12:48
The "Rapture" will occur on the last day which also refers to the end of the world and Judgment Day. That is when the wheat and tares shall be separated. The wheat represent the children of God while the tares are the unregenerate (unsaved). God also uses other terms to represent the saved--sheep and goats (Matthew 25). I hope this will help you.

First off, I'm a Christian too. And, you believe in the rapture too...just probably not how it's been explained to you.
At the very end of time (the consummation), Jesus will return. We call this the second coming of Christ. There will be a resurrection of the dead, but a catching up of the living. This is called the rapture from the Latin translation. This "rapture" or catching up of the living, along with the resurrection of the dead, takes us all, to the judgment seat of God.
You are probably averse to the popular notion that the rapture will occur separate from and prior to the second coming by 7 years. I too, reject that notion. But, there will be a so-called rapture at the end of time. That's how living believers will get to heaven. Read 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.

Because I'm not an expert at this, this link will help you a lot I'm sure. It gives you the biblical support for the rapture as well as answers other questions regarding it. This, of course, is one view. I also know Christians who don't fully believe this way. But I think what this link provides you is the support that leads Christians to believe in the rapture and it also gives the different views on when it will happen. Personally, I believe it could happen but at other times it's hard for me to comprehend. So, in the mean time, I'll just trust God knows what He is doing and be ready for it if it is to come.

Hi hysteria777. The word "rapture" is not found in the Bible. It is a theological term that describes an event found in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17:
"For the Lord Himself shall decend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the Archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord."
When Christ returns on the last day, He brings all of those who have died in the Lord (they who were Saved). These True Believers will be in their Spirit or Soul essence. They will be reunited with their bodies they left here on earth. These bodies will be resurrected into Glorified Spiritual Bodies.
At the same time, those True Believers who are still alive when Christ returns will also receive their new Glorified Bodies. It is these True Believers who will be "caught up" or "raptured" to be with Christ in the air. This is what the rapture is.
As for the unsaved at this time, they will remain and go through the Judgment of God. All found guilty are then cast into Hell.
When this is finished, the true Believers will live with God in the New Heavens and the New Earth that God tells of in Revelation 21:1-3:
"Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God."

If you are a Christian, your attitude needs a little adjustment. No need to be so hostile, k? The 1st book of Thessalonians, in chapter 5, beginning around verse 16, speaks about those on earth "who are alive and remain" being caught up to be with the Lord in the air. The rapture should not be confused with the second coming of Christ. The second coming is when Jesus actually descends to earth and plants His foot on the Mount of Olives. The word "rapture" is from the Latin vulgate....which was then translated into Greek, harpazo, "a catching up".

The word, RAPTURE, is not used in the Bible, but it is clearly described in I Thessalonians 4:15-18 and other places. Praise God! Happy days to you.
