It depends on the person.
Some drink it because they like the taste, some drink it for the feeling. Beer is a drink that is very easy to abuse, and it is generally cheap. Getting drunk from beer and getting drunk from liquor are two different drunk feelings. Some people prefer the beer drunk-feeling.
