I recently had my tragus pierced, i want to buy new bars to put in but not sure what size. Does anyone know how thick in "mm" the piercing should be.

If your on about girth, I would go up in 0.5 steps till at least 3mm.

You shouldn't be changing the jewelry if the piercing is recent. If you are having comfort and healing problems, you piercer should switch the jewelry for you. Changing jewelry during healing time can cause pain, keloids and slower healing. You should wait until you are fully healed which is on average 6 months, but as long as a year.

Often, tragus piercings are at 14g which is roughly 1.62 mm, fractional size is 1/16". You may have been done with 16g as this is often another common size. 16g is roughly 1.29mm. To confirm the gauge, ask your piercer.

well, first off all, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! im getting mine done on december 22 with a 1.2mm bar !!!!
normally, it would be 1.2mm but it can also be 1.6mm.
1.6mm is a bigger size.
if you cant get to your piercer, or go to a jewelry shop and they will tell you the size without having to remove it or try to take the ball off your jewelery and bring it to a jewelery shop. they can tell definitely you. there isnt really a way to find out at home, sorry : (
