I hav had cats all my life, Due to me also having dogs my cats unfortunatly have there own space to eat on one of the sides of my worktop, But get an old spray bottle filled with JUST water, make sure u clean any fluids out that wee in there before well out, And its simple everytime u catch them on ya tops giv em a quick spray, Cats hate it, and it may take a while but eventually they will give up and get fed up of having soggy fur and keep there feet firmly on the ground.

Line up empty cans along the edge of the counter, when they jump up, they'll all fall down and freak them out. They do it once or twice and they won't want to go back up there. My cats learned.

I've heard they really don't like landing on aluminum foil. If you give it a crinkled surface so it's even more unstable, so much the better. Oh, I love trying to outwit cats! Such an unpredictable and worthy opponent. Give them someplace else to climb, too. A cat tree. They like being up high, so indulge them.

When you clean the counter, do it with something that smells like lemons (citrus), they seem to dislike that. Possibly keep some citonella on some cotton balls in a bowl nearby.
