Mold is visible to the eye- the ugly black stuff on walls . If you keep on living with it, you could even get asthma. Baking soda should help scrub it away, if you find it. Otherwise just make a complaint to whoever's incharge.

Mold has a musty odor, for one thing. if it is in a wall it will start to come through the paint. Try looking for water leaks first. See if you can see water spots anywhere, on ceilings, walls, under windows around toilets look for black stains coming through the linoleum.Check areas around sinks and tubs, etc You should also check your heating and air unit for signs of mold. anywhere that things are damp and warm, mold will grow. You can also find it on windows that condensate heavily. But, besides mold, you might consider formaldehyde as a source for those symptoms.New carpet, cabinets or particle board and many other things contain formaldehyde and when it is new it releases heavy amounts of these gasses into the air. If this is the case you may need to ventilate your place more frequently and keep a window cracked all the time. Good luck!

Mold can be EXTREMELY dangerous. Be careful!

Look for water leakage anywear, or stains and spills, even from long-ago... mold is ALIVE, and it grows from heat and moisture combined. It will make places warm and smell nasty, and feel suffocating, if there is enough of it.

If you even suspect it, pick up some strong cleaning products, including bleach. Vent the place thoroughly and keep as much cold air circulating as possible. Best thing, of course, would be to consult an expert.

Listen- if you have mold, you should just get out! From personal experience, pouring thousands of dollars into it and trying to get rid of mold for years WILL NOT WORK. It is practically impossible to eradicate. It gets into clothes, paper, furniture, and causes serious health issues. Take care. Best of luck!

Well if you start serving it breakfast in the morning, I'd say you have a problem. If you are unsure, call a state inspector in to check out the property and bill the expense to your landlord.

Wal-Mart sells a product, I don't remember the name. If there is a Wal-Mart in your city, go to the section of the store that sells cleaning products.
