i had it done on tues. eve (was an emergency)
went home thurs morning
i only needed 1 injection for pain immediately after the surgery when i first woke up
then no further pain had iv antibiotics tues and wed
went home on oral antibiotics for a week
the removed it through my navel and i had 1 tiny hole in by abdomen above it for a drain
they changed the dressing wed. morning and removed the drain thurs. morning before i went home
it was just a momentary pinch when they pulled it out
it has been 2 years
i just have a tiny scar inside my navel and a tiny dot that looks like a faded freckle where the drain was
i was home back to normal immediately with just a few steristrips over the navel and could shower
the steristips will loosen in a few days and the incision in the navel will be red for a week or 2 but without pain
just had to go back to the surgeon a weak later to be checked
there really is nothing to it
you might just be a little tired the first day or two and a little sore
so if mine was an emergency and was easy as pie yours should be even easier
good luck with the baby and the surgery

I had it done microscopically and it hurt like he**, i could not get up for days and had to have help getting around for a week, they didn't give me strong enough pain meds and i suggest you have a good talk with your doctor about your concerns with pain meds afterward as you won't be up to arguing over it if you are in lots of pain, but, i think i was in the minority, i believe most people have gone through this with NO problems, but not me, it was pure he**...... i will say this, i would definetly do it again though because after i healed from the surgery, i have had absolutely no pain again from that area.....good luck

The reason for a gallbladder removal would be if you have stones in your gallbladder. The procedure can be done open or closed. Minimal pain but pain nevertheless. If you don't have stones, talk to your doctor and ask why the cholecystectomy is necessary.
