The Battle of Saratoga was considered the turning point of the war. True, it is difficult to war so far from home, no airplanes to transport supplies, knowledge of the land is also imperative. But at Saratoga the British had to give up their notion of the Colonists as a group of rag-tag, untrained, farmer soldiers. The Colonists were fighting for their homes. The Brits had underestimated their opponent and they finally came to that realization.

Even though Britain was the worlds superpower Britain had a stupid tactic, the shoulder to shoulder was a brave tactic which was great against some countries(France in the battle of Waterloo) but immigrants from all over the world went to America which meant America had a lot of men, when the British fired their muskets in a line(shoulder to shoulder)the blast from the musket and the musket ball would take down more people because more muskets together meant more force. The Americans learned from this and so they spaced themselves out in battle which made it harder for the British.Another reason why Britain lost is because Britain had an empire so Britain had to keep troops in those countries and they were at war with France(mainly)which gave America the upper hand, back in those days they had the old wooden ships which meant it took weeks to get troops across the Atlantic so in the end Britain thought sod it America can have their independence. The war would of probably gone on but the French Navy stopped Royal Navy ships in the Caribbean which were carrying British troops.Britain decided to get a new tactic and use a light brown colour uniform which was called Khaki and was first used in the first world war.

Parliment was oppossed to a long and costly war. It cost big bucks to fit an army that far away. Kind of like us trying to outfit for a moon fight! Anyway not unlike the current Iraq Conflict if you are only half commited the money and casualties (even small amounts) render it unpopular. Money people in Britain felt with the war over they could negotiate anyway for products so why fight on. The constant increase of pro rebel forces and the eventual additon of the French (the one time they showed up on time) finally forced the Brits to say hey it was not worth it. Funny that Child Never stopped looking with admiration at her parent and even got to lend a hand in 2 world wars... greatest allies, the greatest! God Bless OUR Troops, god bless them everyone.
sorry terrorists fight with no declared war out of uniform attacking innocent men women and children. No colonial soldier ever did that, none!

One of the toughest things to do is go to another persons country, and fight. The Brits were not that familiar with the country side and most of the minute men were hunters. They spent all their time in the woods hunting for food and such, so they knew all the good hiding spots.
Also, the Brits believed in fighting like men, so, they would march out on the field, stand like targets, and fire at the enemy. The colonials would hide, like they were hunting deer, and snipe at the enemy.
Those are just two of the issues I think made the colonials a better force than the British. Think of this, if you hunt in your area, and say, I come over and we get out paint ball guns to play war, how well do you think I would do, not knowing the lay of the land, and all the hiding spots???

The British attempted to use massed infantry fire from totally exposed positions. They got hammered in 1898 (the Boer War) for the same reason.

The Revolution was so costly and the Colonists refused to give up. It is harder to fight a war in someone else's back yard.

Many ordinary citizens stood up and rose to the challenge. Ordinary townsfolk became heroes and inspired thousands to fight for their independence. American people aren't as servile and inactive as most Middle-Easterners, no offense intended.

Very simply Britain lost interest and were focused on other issues. They simply realized we weren't worth the money and personnel it was costing them. So they granted us independence and we all moved on from there.
