Why is this question in "Immigration"? Most Americans can't even name the three branches of our government, never mind all 50 states.
I can name them if I can see a map (without their names on it), but would probably miss a few if I had to rattle them off the top of my head. I think this depends a lot on what kind of elementary school education one has had, or if one is interested in geography. Have fun tonight!

50 and yes I can name them, although I don't really think Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, or southern California , should be counted as American. They seem to be controlled by Mexico.
