Yes, as per the Koran - you have your religion, I have mine. Lakom deenakom w leya deeny. Al Azhar scholars gave a fatwa in 1982 about this matter and as far as I remember it said that everyone is entitled to belong to a certain religion or his/her own way of thinking. As long as that person does not influence your thoughts, actions or tries to make you an atheist, then you can be friends. I am a muslim, have friends from all walks of life.

I do not see why not...

I am an atheist and I have 2 Muslim friends... we DO NOT generally discus religion but frankly since I am an atheist this is not a problem for me... perhaps more for them.

I would say that if there is mutual respect it should not be a problem.

Any religious practicioner can be friends with any other practicing or non-practicing person. The key is to find common ground, on which to build a mutual respect. Such as the common underlying message that was brought by all of the figureheads of the World's religions.

I think you'll find that even athiests believe in the concepts taught by Mohammed. Perhaps they don't follow the same rules, but morality is common to us all, since it was our creator that bestowed us with it.

Of course. I am atheist and I have a Muslim and a jewish orthodox friend. Friendship can transcend religion, if you allow it to. Be open minded. It's a good thing.

As a Muslim, you should know better. Muslims are commanded by Allah to extend charity all ALL people, not just fellow Muslims.

Not being friends with an athiest is not a very Christian thing to do.

Till the time it serves the Muslims interests, yes.

After that, it's a simple thing that the atheist is an infidel, because he or she is not a "True Believer" and the sentence for that, if I'm not mistaken, is Death, isn't it?

Relationship should be beyond religion. Religion should be a personal affair with God (the one you believe) and in no way it should discourage friendship with those who are from different faith. I think it is possible as am a faithless creature who has for best friends faithful creatures.
