Well like cancer the universe is though to become more destructive to it's self as it grows.

Also look at this possibility... A red giant star is of the largest starts, but yet has a heat of 3000 degrees. Then the blackhole is thought to come from the mass finally collapsing after many many years of being a white dwarf... A white dwarf is of the hottest, but yes smallest of stars. So i think aging the universe would have to be looked at by how quickly the universe is expanding, and the how quickly the density levels within galaxies are raising. The higher the density the higher the possibility of collapse. Like packing 500 desks in a floor of a building that can only hold the weight of 50.

So creation is our destruction? Does this make sense?

The universe is still expanding, and so far it's been dated at several billion years old, so assuming it began to collapse again, it would likely take just as long, before an immense black hole forms again and then there's another big bang.

My guess is that we'll be gone long before that, since our species uses more natural resources than the Earth can replenish.
