Explain to your kids how you're short on money and then just get them 1 present each and one from Santa.

Well first off try getting them presents on sale maybe. Also maybe just get your kids 1 present from you and your husband and then 1 from Santa (If you do the Santa thing of course)
And then once you get pained maybe get them the rest of their presents.

That's what my Mom did last year because she was short of money. She had 4 kids to do it for. We are also doing it again this year because she's short of money.

Good luck with everything, I hope you can get back on your feet soon.
Hope your back feels better soon as well.

Well about two years ago I was in the same boat except I only had 1 child to buy for but I was hell bent on buying my mom a gift so here's what I did. I didn't buy decorations for my home I made everything, except for the tree and lights of course. I saved $100 on just decorations. This idea will also bring your family closer and your children can be involved and feel like accomplished and I bet none of their friends can say they "made" their holiday, Ha ha ha! Sorry bad joke, I've been hanging out with my fiance and his friends too long! Anyway, then I did a potluck for Christmas dinner and invited alot of my friends and family, no one brought gifts they all did thier gift openings prior to coming over just to ease any confusion and chaos with the children. I only cooked two things instead of the whole dinner I saved another $62 and with that mooney I bought my son a Spiderman bike and a couple of other somewhat expensive things and in an attempt to out do her I bought my mother a 1 ct princess cut diamod ring that she really had her eyes on. I also took up a seasonal part time job at the time too, but that was still barely covering what I needed it to cover(Bills and everyday food). I totally understand what you're going through. As much as I love giving gifts to everyone important to my life I didn't buy anyone else a gift that year either, I waited until I got in a better situation. So if you have to be selfish for your children, just make sure they have the best Christmas ever, as parents thats sometimes the only thing we can care about. GOOD LUCK, I'll make sure I send out a special pray for your family!!!

One cheap dollar store gift a piece will do. Your children are old enough to understand that money is short and that times are hard. The best thing about Christmas isn't the gifts you receive, its the time you spend with the people you love. Just make it a fun loving day and they will cherish it for the rest of their lives.

I know thjis might hurt your pride a little but you can go to a local church explain your situation and they will be more than happy to help. That is what they do and people make generous donations especially for this reason so take the help that they offer. When you and your husband get back on your feet you can always donate back a little to help someone else that may be in need. Good luck and I hope your children have a wonderful holiday.
