Yes.

Islam teaches us that we should be friendly to all people. Islam teaches us that we should deal even with our enemies with justice and fairness. Allah says in the Qur'an in the beginning of the same Surat Al-Ma’dah: [O you who believe! Stand out firmly for Allah as witnesses to fair dealings and let not the hatred of others to you make you swerve to wrong and depart from justice. Be just, that is next to piety. Fear Allah, indeed Allah is well-acquainted with all that you do.] (Al-Ma’dah 5 :8)

■ Muslims are allowed to have non-Muslims as friends as long as they keep their own faith and commitment to Islam pure and strong.

Of course they can. My best friend is a christian. Half my family are Christians. Muslims don't have a problem with Christians. Whats the basis for your question?

I'm surprised you don't know the answer to that, ma'am.

At least, the Christians don't go around damning people who are not "True Believers" and persecuting them.

We leave all those kinds to the wonderful Muslims.

I saw a mullah on TV telling young Muslims not to have non-Muslims friends and not to go to uni. When he was confronted about it he said he was taken out of context.I've seen even cats and dogs being friends, this is pathetic.

Yes. And they can be best of friends for as long they don't talk about their beliefs. Just confine each others thought there is one God and nothing further than that. Otherwise, both can not reconcile a prophet and a messiah. This is what we are seeing here, right?

Of course they can, as long as they don't get into religion. I have been great friends with Catholics, Muslims and Hindus, we didn't talk religion and we got along great.

Yes as long as neither of them follow thier religion with the thinking of "I must make sure that everyone is my religion so that they can be saved and happy" Otherwise no because one or both would push their religion on the other out of "love" and wanting to save them so it wouldn't last.

No, Because Muslimah, you, asks questions, and behaves with little patience and demeanor that leads towards this "friendship", it is either convert, or go away. This is one-sided "friendship", so it is not REAL. Good luck with that NYC Muslim conference.
