What's the difference between ce, cet, cette, and ces? The teacher was like," this one's masculine singular, this one's feminine singular, this one's masculine plural, and this one's feminine plural..." I don't get it? Which one's which?

Ok, here's the breakdown... use
ce when it's masculine singular unless the next word begins with a vowel (to avoid putting two vowels in a row and making odd sounds the french use) cet
cette is for all fem. singular (even if the next word begins with a vowel)
and ces is for all plural whether masc. or fem.

You use word "this" with some noun, OK? E.g. this page. French words are not gender neutral, each of them is of certain gender (masculin, feminin) and is used with a corresponding article, e.g. une fille, un oiseau, des gens, l'idee (f), le commerce (m).

When you add a pronoun, e.g. "this", or adjective, e.g. "nice" before/after any noun, you have to adjust them according to the gender of the noun.

Therefore it is said:

ce monument (un monument, masculin), un monument blanc.

Ce and cet are masculine singular. Dog in french is CHIEN, a masculine noun and you would say : CE CHIEN.for THIS DOG
Plural of dog in french is CHIENS.so you would translate THESE DOGS with :
CES CHIENS.
If the noun is feminine like Chaise which is Chair in french,then you would use : CETTE CHAISE - this chair. Plural is the same with masculine or feminine nouns,it is: CES CHIENS (masculine) or CES CHAISES (feminine).
CET is used with masculine nouns that start with a vowel or the letter H or Y.
For example, THIS MAN would be CET HOMME in french,or THIS MONEY would be CET ARGENT or THIS ORGAN would be CET ORGANE.
When you use CET you pronounce the two words as one as in CET-ARGENT or CET-HOMME.
