And why do you think that by quoting the bible to Atheists and non-Christians you'll change their minds?
Don't you realize that if an Atheist/non-Christian doesn't believe, the bible is part of the problem? And that by quoting it as your "proof" you're not really supporting it with anything?
To prove something, you need more than a book an Atheist/non-Christian doesn't believe in anyway.

Kind of amusing that the Christians haven't really responded to this question.
Although, Holly, that was a very insightful question. That's exactly whats needed. Or at least an explanation of such an experience. I wish more Christians realized what you seem to.

Well said iamthatiamyhwh. Even if I don't agree with you. It's much more logical than most replies.

fat....... what are you talking about? No one has said man made the stars. We've only tried to describe HOW they were made. I'm a little confused what you're talking about.
whacky, you're not getting it. You believe it is proof. But here's the problem.... you're trying to convince Atheists and non-Christians that your god is real. If they already doubt, the bible is not proof to anyone else but a believer. And if you're a believer, you don't need to prove to another believer that your god is real because the other believer already knows.
Do you see the paradox? You can't prove something exists by using something that the other person doesn't believe anyway.
It's simple logic.

I am a Christian, and I can tell you right now that the bible cannot prove to anyone that God exists. It will only clarify to the believer His existence.
God did not write His book to prove He is God. He wrote it so that we might know Him.
You don't need a book to know that there is a creator, just simply realize that you are a creature, a created being. Come to grips with what your conscience has already revealed to you.
You cannot possibly look out into the sky at night and accept the fact that our universe just happened. It is far to precise. As is your own body. Not to mention the fact that every person on the face of the earth has some sense of eternity inside of them. I know because I ask strangers all of the time where they will go when they die, and 90% say Heaven. But they have no good reason as to why.
God has placed his law upon our heart and revealed Himself through His attributes and the testimony of nature. If you realize this then you will understand His word.

Because you ask us what proof we have.
We believe it is proof, you choose not to believe it.
Atheists use circular logic too. They say, the bible isn't true, so it contains no truth. Or, We have read the creation story and it makes no sense, so the bible makes no sense.
What other "proof" can we provide? When you say God does not exist, what proof do you have? I only post answers or questions because I see atheists asking for "proof". I'm not asking you to believe it. I'm simply trying to show you that i have as logically based beliefs as you claim to.
It is amazing to me that anyone cannot believe in God, even if they do not believe in the bible; as much as it amazes you that anyone CAN.
I posted a Q with a link. You know how many responders bothered to read the whole thing? So far, 2 out of 13.
You know how I passed biology? By reading ALL about evolution. I have, in my estimation, investigated science's answers far more than scientists have investiagted the bible.
I believe the bible, and I only respond because the question is posed by atheists.
Just as you did here and now. Did you read this whole post? I was criticized for posting a link before.
EDIT: You replied to my post:

I am NOT trying to prove ANYTHING to you. Atheists keep posting Q's like: "Why do Christians believe the bible", etc. You asked me why a believer would post a scripture quote. I answered your question. Holy did not. The reason i quote it, I'm repeating myself, is because I believe it is proof.
Are you a biologist? A geologist? An archeologist?
You quote their books. Just because they find something, doesn't mean it proves evolution, and it definitely doesn't prove there is no God. Yet you quote them. If I quote a Christian scientist, you say he is of questionable scientific character, or lived in a time when "everyone believed in God". Why do you say these things? It makes me think you are deluded into believing ANYTHING anyone says who doesn't believe in God.
That's illogical. In your words, you can't prove anything to me that i already dont believe (we came from apes, there is no God).
It's simple logic.
Or is it? Atheists convert everyday. Christians abandon their beliefs everyday. Why? Because you CAN convince someone to believe something using something they don't believe.
Now THAT is simple logic.

I try to show atheists (in response to THEIR querys) that the bible has some fascinating scientific evidence.
If i tell you about the spiritual experience I had that led me to repent and make Jesus my Lord, and confess Him as my saviour, will you believe that?
How do you know that i didn't contrive the story?
To me, the fact that there are hundreds of prophecies that have come true is compelling evidence that the book was inspired by God. The fact that there are scientific things that men could not have known (springs in the bottom of the ocean, etc) until the advent of the submarine, is proof of the divine inspiration of the bible.
You applaud Holy, and I agree with her, but I also see atheists label christians "deluded" for their spirituality. So, I quote scripture that, to me, shows some supernatural origin.
Again, you have asked the question... do you really want the answer, or are you simply gainsaying?

Of course not. It may have been from the beginning; but the argument cannot be made that there are no differences in translation; and the "infallible" bible theory kind of dies when people actually read it and find that there are contradictions, not to mention the 400,000 differences in th manuscripts of the NT. However the notion of these making the bible flawed is incorrect also. The bible is to be read by the spirit of God and carried into your heart. Therefore God's perfection is not dependent on the words of the book, but the words as they are carried into your heart through His Holy Spirit. P.S. Unless God was text messaging someone I'm not sure He would have said "I gtg, cya"

I can only answer for myself. Why do Christians think that bible quotes are "proof" of their gods existance?
When I did not know God as Savior the Bible was just another book to read, no feeling, no change. When I asked Christ into my heart, my whole life changed, the Word of God became life and jumped into my spirit.
When I witness to people about Christ, I use the word because there word of God is sharper than a two edge sword and it will not return void. They may not pay attention right then, but later in life the very word (of God) that was spoken to them will come back to their remembrance.
To prove something, you need more than a book an Atheist/non-Christian doesn't believe in anyway. The world says they have to see it before they can believe, but God said you have to believe it is Him, before you can see Him. We walk by faith and not by sight.

We dont believe that quoting makes it true,we just choose to believe the bible is true, just as you choose not to believe. Its your choice. What we find hard to believe is that people can really think that man made the stars and planets so perfectly aligned with our home planet the perfect distance from the sun with the perfect ammount of oxygen, water and enough nutrients in the soil to allow humans to survive. Or even the ones that think that there was nothing but empty space then an explosion whiched made everything so great and orderly allowing a fish to crawl from the sea turn into a monkey, shave his back and walk away thus becoming a man. yeah makes sense too me, I guess I believe in the wrong thing huh? I could go into more but I wont. Dont want to offend. HA!

Christians use the bible to "prove" their faith the same way atheists use it to "disprove" faith.. Any time you talk to a true atheist they will say the bible contradicts itself over and over again.. Do you believe history books that you use in school?? Do they provide real evidence of the past?? The bible is a historical book that has been said to have been inspired by God.. Is that hard to believe?? What about all of the propaganda spilled out by our government that we swallow everyday.. I don't understand these people that say they don't believe in the bible' but they are quick to defend their books and doctrines of a different faith...

Well, I see your point. People of strong faith tend to view the bible as fact. So much to the point that they can't understand why other do not.
In there lies the problem. You're having a religious discussion while not acknowledging religion. It's like talking about air in the vacuum of space. To some one who has been in an atmosphere, it is a real thing. They've even written about it and will be happy to share it with you. To some one who has not, it's rediculous.

They are winners and that's how they won -- They are so happy now -- They must spread the old news -- This is something only they could know through esoteric knowledge -- They are esoterroist -- They believe in magic and so should you ( false claims 3-16 )--- God so loved sin --it allowed it -- Its scriptural --- If I where Constantine I would force you to believe that

I totally agree, especially every time someone asks a challenging question ,they just do not have a straight answer,NEVER, they are unable to formulate a thought and only copy and paste verses from the Bible .Those verses so many times do not give any answer to the question or they have no pertinance whatsoever with the question. I find that sad, we have a brain ,why don't they use it if they intend to convince us that what they follow is the truth, why do they just copy and paste verses from the BIble?, supposedly, according to that they say ,they are illuminated by God but yet cannot formulate an answer to our questions, what does that tell you?
