Why do gangs need money, when they end up stealing most things snyway?

There's some things they cannot steal, so they use money to attain it - like relationships with women who are just as hardy. Also to impress.

They don't steal most things, but they do steal a lot.
They want money so they can buy the fancy clothes, Rolex Watches, BMWs, etc.
Even gang bangers would get arrested if they tried to steal those things.

Because you can't steal a house.

Driving in a stolen car will get you arrested quickly.

You can't steal electricity or water for very long.

They are opportunistic theives. Meaning, they only steal when they see or create an opportunity.

Well, for starters, housing you can't easily steal. They really do frown on car-theft, too.
Food you can rip off, but draws too much attention and takes too much risk for the payoff.
Everyday expenses like fuel, insurance, diapers, utilities, phone, the list goes on and on.
Sure they steal, but that is what they do. They got overhead just like the rest of us!! LOL

Because it's easier and safer to pay for what you want with dirty money than to steal it. Which is more likely to draw attention to yourself? Committing several small robberies every day or doing one big robbery every few weeks then spending the money every day like an ordinary citizen?
