I have tried VideoLAN but the audio skips and the video is not too clear. When I tried the DirectDVD it worked perfectly, but it was just a trial, it was not free.

This is a bit complicated.
Firstly download the completely free bit torrent. Then search for Power DVD (best of all times) at www.bittorrent.com. After that download the torrent, set it up in the torrent downloader. Download it, and then install.

Windows Media Player is free and can do it on the Windows Platform. VideoLan's VLC is what I prefer. That's a bummer you weren't pleased with it. Maybe it's time to add more RAM, faster processor, or better video card to your system? Just a thought.
