Aight. There is this girl I've been crushing on for about 4 months. I haven't gotten the courage to ask her out. I really don't know what her reaction would be if I did. She would never expect me to like her, we are really opposites and Im 2 years older. I'm somewhat *popular* junior and she is a really *quiet* sweet freshman. I'm pretty sure I'm in *friend mode* I get hugs from her alot. Plus there is sometimes the *staring at one another* for like 10 secs. Then I'll just pop a smile and hug her. I know all of my friends and ex's will rag on me for going out with her. Oh she's *different*. Well ****. I don't care. I really like her, but for some reason I cant tell her how I feel. She makes me feel funky. That and I'm pretty sure she will be shocked if I tell her, probally cuz my ex girlfriends are always the *preppy snobs*. She would never think I'd fall for her. But I did and I dont know how to tell her. Any tips on this would be greatly appreciated.

In my freshman year, my current best friend (a senior at the time) and I went through the same thing, because neither of us could get up the courage to ask the other out. If I had known there was even the remotest chance of it working out despite how different he was from my exes, I would have taken the chance. Basically, it doesn't have to stay in friend mode between you two, you just have to let her know that you want more. As for your friends, ignore them; it's your life, and you can do with it what you want.
Ask her out and see what happens!

be up front. don't play games. if it's mutual, then it'll work. if not, she'll at least appreciate that you're not trying to play her.
