Because northern Scotland is 600 miles north of London. Another 400 miles north and you would be in the land of 24 hours of darkness per day in winter or 24 hours of daylight per day in summer.

Thats why the Scots always resists the introduction of year-long Summer Time. It would mean that, in winter, the sun would not rise on the northern coast until after 10am (and even later in Orkney or Shetland)

Yes,, it was a UFO. ... Whether it was an alien spacecraft or an aircraft of some description from our own Earth, I do not know. ... I DO Know this much for certain. ( & you can make what you will out of it.) .. By process of Elimination,, 1/ It could not have been a Comet. as the tail was at the wrong end. 2/ It could not have been a meteor. Meteor's do Not change direction / course! 3/ It was not an asteroid. The scientific community would have given us all advance warning if it had been a close fly-by of an asteroid, so it was not that. 4/ It was not a 'plane'. 'Aeroplane's' all have a limited range. This "whatever it was",, was seen as far away as Australia at about the same time. 5/ It was not a commercial jet. Commrcial jets may have the range, but none have the speed to be able to be seen on both sides of the planet at almost the same time. 6/ It was not a Military jet. What Military jet with such speed would allow itself to be seen so openly? 7/ Missile? .. I doubt it. 8/ We are back to "something" enteing the atmosphere frpm space. Very high speeds, controlled flight, "firey" tail, ................ It may have been a satellite on unscheduled re entry? or, it may have been a UFO from another world? .. Who knows?

The farther north you travel the longer the days will be. Because the earth is tilted and the way it rotates, the northern part of the earth stays in the sun longer.

Because it's further North. The further North you go the longer the days are in Summer, and the shorter they are in Winter. This is due to the axial tilt of the Earth.

This is true but only between the vernal and autumnal equinoxes. If you went further north still the sun wouldn.t set at all. That's why they call Finland the Land of the Midnight Sun.
